2020年度 横浜インターナショナルユースフォトプロジェクト 参加者募集　|　Yokohama International Youth Photo Project 2020 Call for Participants

このワークショップでは、10代の子どもたちが、身の回りのものごとをその子独自の視点で見て考えることに取り組みます。そのために、あたえられたテーマについて考えたことを写真に撮る練習をします。毎回、撮ってきた写真を選んでプリントし、意見を交換します。そうすることによって、どのようにして写真を通して自分の声をとどけるかを学びます。

フォトジャーナリスト。全米性暴力調査センター元名誉役員。アメリカのコロンビアカレッジシカゴ卒業後、アメリカ中西部の新聞社で専属フォトグラファー・フォトエディターを務める。その傍ら、アメリカ、カナダ、日本で約70人の性暴力被害者を取材撮影し、写真プロジェクト「STAND：性暴力サバイバー達」を発表。このプロジェクトがアメリカのテレビドキュメンタリーとなって反響を呼び、アメリカ連邦政府主催の犯罪被害者特別議会等でパネリストを務めるようになる。以来、東はワシントンDCの政府ビルから西はハワイの女性刑務所まで、全米各地で写真展と講演会をし、数々の防犯、犯罪被害者支援キャンペーンにも携わる。2006年より日本でも講演会と写真展を開催。警察や行政と繋がりながら、各都道府県の性暴力被害者支援センター設立の火付け役となる。2011年シカゴの母校より卒業生賞、2008年やよりジャーナリスト賞、2002年ワシントンDCよりビジョナリーアワード受賞。2007年に著書『STAND：立ち上がる選択』出版(フォレストブックス)。2018年団体 Picture This Japan を立ち上げ、社会的弱者といわれる人たちにカメラを持たせ、目にはみえにく社会を内側から可視化するプロジェクトや写真展、講演会をおこないつつ、取材と撮影もおこなう。

The workshop encourages teenagers to see things in their own way, and capture what they see/think of things and situations around them. In order to do so, participants will get to practice capturing thoughts in pictures through assigned themes. We will print out their work and critique in every workshop, and ultimately create pictures as their visual voices.

Photojournalist and author. Graduated from Columbia College Chicago and worked for several daily newspapers as a staff photographer in the Midwest of US. Oyabu has done extensive interviews and photographed survivors of sexual violence and testified before Congress on the issue of violence against women in 2002. She has earned many awards including 2002 Visionary Award from Washington DC Rape Crisis Center, 2008 Yayori Journalist Award, and 2011 Alumni of the year from Columbia College Chicago. Now as director of Picture This Japan, she works to reach out to young immigrant/international youths as well as crime victims through community photo projects.
